just made one of these for my husband's birthday, and it sure worked |
on him! it makes an enormous, decadent, yummy three-layer cake. |
this time i did have to cook it a little longer than the 30-35 |
minutes it says in the recipe--best to test and take it out of the |
oven when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. |
|
|
|
3/4 cup | butter or margarine |
2-1/2 cup | sugar |
1-1/2 tsp | vanilla |
3 | eggs |
3 | 1oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted |
3 cup | cake flour |
1-1/2 tsp | baking soda |
3/4 tsp | salt |
1-1/2 cup | ice water |
|
cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. add eggs and beat until light and |
fluffy. blend in chocolate. sift together dry ingredients and add |
alternately with water to chocolate mixture. pour into three greased |
and floured layer pans. bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. |
|
cool and frost with: |
|
4-1/2 cup | powdered sugar |
1/4 cup | hot water |
1 | egg |
3/4 cup | butter or margarine, softened |
6 | 1oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted |
|
mix sugar and water. beat in egg and butter. add melted chocolate |
and beat until creamy. frosts top and sides of three layers. |
