Dutch Meatballs

|
250 g | minced pork |
250 g | minced beef |
| we can get it combined and call it " half om half") |
1 | egg |
1 tsp | salt ( to your taste) |
1/2 tsp | pepper |
1/2 tsp | nutmeg |
100 g | old with bread without the crust crumbled |
| you can also use "paneermeel" but i can't find the english word for it) |
1 Tbsp | of milk |
50 g | butter or margarine (do not use oil) |
|
mix all the ingredients (except the butter)by hand |
add some more breadcrumbs if the mixture sticks |
to your hand, form about 5 meatballs |
melt the butter in a skillet let it become light brown |
bake the meatballs on both sides until the have a |
brown crust |
transfer the meatball to a casserole pan |
put a 1/4 liter of water in your skillet to get al the stuff out of the |
pan |
let it cook for about one minute |
transfer the water and butter mixture in to your casserole |
over the meatballs |
the meatballs should be totally covered, if not add some water |
let it simmer for 30 minutes on the lowest possible setting |
on your cooker |
also it possible to let the balls simmer in a slow cooker |
then let them simmer for about six hours on low |
